How the calculation works
Saturation pH is calculated from temperature, total dissolved solids, calcium hardness as CaCO3, and total alkalinity as CaCO3. A result near zero indicates approximate calcium carbonate equilibrium under the assumptions of the model.

Limits and responsible use
LSI is an equilibrium tendency indicator, not a direct corrosion-rate measurement. It does not represent every material, disinfectant system, inhibitor, dissolved gas condition, or water treatment objective. Use adjusted alkalinity where the applicable method requires it.
