Alkalinity Calculator

01 / 08

Calculate total alkalinity as CaCO3 from acid titration volume, normality, sample volume, and blank correction.

FormulaAlkalinity (mg/L as CaCO₃) = (A − B) × N × 50,000 ÷ sample mL

ResultEnter valid values

A

How the calculation works

Enter the acid volume used to reach the selected titration endpoint. Subtract any blank correction, then apply the titrant normality and sample volume. The result is reported as milligrams per litre as calcium carbonate, the standard reporting basis for alkalinity.

B

Limits and responsible use

The endpoint and titrant must match the analytical method used by your laboratory. This calculator does not select an endpoint, validate standardization, or correct for interferences.

Formula reference

The calculation and interpretation are presented with their assumptions so the result can be independently checked.
