How the calculation works

The solute mass is divided by its molar mass to obtain moles. Moles are then divided by the final solution volume in litres to obtain amount concentration, commonly called molarity.

Limits and responsible use

Use the molar mass of the actual chemical form, including hydration state where applicable. The final volume is the completed solution volume, not merely the solvent volume. This tool does not account for assay purity unless you correct the entered mass first.
