2. Health Hazards
Routes of Exposure: Ingestion, skin contact, eye contact, inhalation of dust.
- Skin Contact: May cause irritation. Prolonged contact can lead to dermatitis.
- Eye Contact: Causes irritation. May cause redness and pain.
- Inhalation: High dust concentrations may cause respiratory tract irritation, bronchitis, or bronchial asthma in sensitive individuals.
- Ingestion: Large amounts may cause oral erosion, gastritis, gastric bleeding, and mucosal necrosis.
- Chronic Effects: Long-term exposure may cause headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, cough, and chest pain.
3. First Aid Measures
- Skin Contact: Remove contaminated clothing immediately. Flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.
- Eye Contact: Lift eyelids and flush eyes thoroughly with running water or saline for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention immediately.
- Inhalation: Move to fresh air immediately. Keep airway clear. If breathing is difficult, administer oxygen. If breathing has stopped, perform artificial respiration. Seek medical attention.
- Ingestion: Rinse mouth with water. Drink milk or egg white. Seek medical attention immediately.
4. Fire & Explosion Information
PAC is non-flammable and non-explosive. In case of fire, firefighters should wear full acid-resistant protective clothing. Use dry sand as extinguishing agent. Avoid using water directly on spilled material.
5. Spill Handling
- Isolate spill area and restrict access.
- Wear dust mask (full face), acid-alkali resistant protective clothing, and gloves.
- Small Spills: Avoid creating dust. Use clean shovel to collect into sealed containers.
- Large Spills: Cover with plastic sheet or canvas. Clean up under expert guidance.
- Prevent entry into waterways, sewers, or confined spaces.
6. Storage & Transportation
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse. Keep away from heat, sparks, and open flames. Maintain relative humidity below 75%. Keep containers tightly sealed and protected from moisture.
- Separation: Store separately from combustibles, alkalis, alcohols, and edible chemicals. Do not mix storage.
- Shelf Life: Solid PAC: 12 months under proper storage. Liquid PAC: 6 months. Avoid prolonged storage to prevent quality deterioration.
- Transport: Ensure packaging is intact and loading is secure. Protect from sun exposure, rain, and high temperature during transit. Transport vehicles should carry spill emergency equipment.
7. Personal Protection
- Respiratory Protection: Wear self-priming filter dust mask when dust exposure is possible. Use air respirator for emergency rescue or evacuation.
- Eye Protection: Wear chemical safety goggles.
- Body Protection: Wear acid-alkali resistant rubber protective clothing.
- Hand Protection: Wear acid-alkali resistant rubber gloves.
- Hygiene Measures: Wash hands thoroughly after handling. Do not eat, drink, or smoke in work areas.
