Pulp and Paper Industry Wastewater Treatment
The pulp and paper industry generates large volumes of wastewater with high COD, color, and suspended solids. Hydrochemix provides proven chemical treatment solutions for paper mills across Asia and the Middle East.
Paper Mill Wastewater Sources
- Pulping Effluent: Black liquor (kraft), lignin compounds, high COD (10,000-50,000 mg/L)
- Bleaching Effluent: Chlorinated organics, AOX compounds, color bodies
- Paper Machine White Water: Fiber fines, fillers, sizing agents, moderate COD
- Deinking Effluent: Ink particles, surfactants, high suspended solids
Treatment Approach
Primary Clarification
PAC 30% at 200-500 mg/L achieves 85-95% TSS removal and 60-75% COD reduction in primary clarifiers. The high charge density of our PAC effectively neutralizes negatively charged fiber particles and colloidal materials.
Secondary Biological Treatment
For mills with activated sludge systems, our chemicals are phosphorus-free and compatible with biological treatment – no nutrient disruption or biomass toxicity.
Tertiary Polishing
Anionic PAM at 1-2 mg/L provides final polishing for water reuse or stringent discharge limits. Combined with DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation), achieves TSS below 30 mg/L.
Color Removal Performance
Kraft mill effluent contains highly colored lignin compounds. Our PAC achieves 80-90% color removal at 400-800 mg/L dosage, significantly outperforming alum and ferric chloride on a cost-per-unit-color-removed basis.
Export Experience
We supply paper mills in Indonesia (APP/Asia Pulp and Paper group mills), Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia with consistent product quality and reliable delivery schedules.
